Museum of the Moving Image and the Center for Communication invite you to two events next week: on Sunday, June 2, a preview screening of How to Make Money Selling Drugs with Adrian Grenier in person, and on Wednesday, June 5, An Evening with Creator of MTV Bob Pittman. We are pleased to offer complimentary admission to these events.

To reserve a ticket, send your name and event title, with the mention of “Center for Communication”, to Tickets will be given out first-come, first-served on the evening of each event. Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the program begins to collect your ticket.

How to Make Money Selling Drugs is an insider’s guide to the violent but extremely lucrative drug industry. Told from the perspective of former drug dealers, and featuring interviews with rights advocates Russell Simmons, Susan Sarandon, and Woody Harrelson, the film gives you the lessons you need to start your own drug empire while exposing the corruption behind the “war on drugs.” There will be a discussion after the screening with executive producer Adrian Grenier. Best known for his starring role on the HBO series Entourage, Grenier is the co-founder of SHFT, a multimedia platform devoted to progressive social and cultural change.




An Evening with Bob Pittman

The co-founder and programmer who led the team that created MTV, Bob Pittman, is one of the most successful and influential media executives of his time. He has been described as the only media mogul who is also an entrepreneur, and his work in television and music has indelibly influenced what we now call the “MTV Generation.” After launching MTV, which quickly became the most successful cable channel of its time, Pittman oversaw the transformation of Nickelodeon and the launch of Nick at Nite and VH-1. He has been CEO of MTV Networks, AOL Networks, Six Flags Theme Parks, Quantum Media, Century 21 Real Estate, and Time Warner Enterprises. He is now the CEO of Clear Channel Communications, where he is continuing to define the changing media landscape. Pittman has been recognized in Life‘s “Five Original Thinkers of the ’80s,” Advertising Age‘s “50 Pioneers and Visionaries of TV,” and “10 Marketers Who Changed American Culture.” This conversation with Bob Pittman will be moderated by the Museum’s Executive Director, Carl Goodman.
