Amy Herzog is Associate Professor of Media Studies and Coordinator of the Film Studies Program at Queens College. She is also on the faculty of the Film Studies Certificate Program at The Graduate Center, CUNY.  She received her BA in film production and gender studies from Bard College, and her MA and PhD from the Program in Visual and Cultural Studies at the University of Rochester. Before coming to Queens, she worked at several media and arts institutions in New York, most recently assisting with the Andy Warhol Film Project at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Her research interests include film, philosophy, popular music, and gender studies. She is the author of Dreams of Difference, Songs of the Same: The Musical Moment in Film (University of Minnesota Press, 2010). She is currently co-editing The Oxford Handbook of Sound and Image in Digital Media with Carol Vernallis and John Richardson (forthcoming 2013). With Joe Rollins, she is co-general editor of the journal WSQ. She is currently conducting research on coin-operated film arcades and urban culture.
