Bobby Wintermute

Professor Bobby Wintermute received his B.A. degree from Montclair State University in 1991, his M.A. degree from East Stroudsburg University in 1997, and his Ph.D. from Temple University in 2006. He is the author of Public Health and the U.S. Military: A History of The Army Medical Department, 1818-1917 (Routledge, 2010) and is currently at work on a survey history of race and gender issues in American military history. He has received grants from the U.S. Army Center of Military History, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the Rockefeller Archive Center, and the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, where he was scholar-in-residence in 2004. Dr. Wintermute is also director of the Queens College Veteran Alumni project, a student-based oral history outreach initiative aimed at preserving the memory of veterans from the borough of Queens.
